Apple Butter Cookies

Deliciously soft and spiced, these Apple Butter Cookies are the perfect treat for cozy fall days.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup apple butter
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the apple butter and eggs, mixing well.
  4. In another bowl, combine flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  5. If desired, fold in walnuts.
  6. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until lightly golden.
  8. Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks.

Notes

  • For an extra touch, drizzle melted caramel over the cookies before serving.
  • These cookies can also be decorated with a sprinkle of powdered sugar for added sweetness.
