  • 2 pounds potatoes, peeled and sliced

  • 1 cup cream or milk
  • 1 tablespoon dried herbs (such as thyme and rosemary)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat and sauté the onions and garlic until translucent.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced potatoes with cream, herbs, sautéed onions and garlic, salt, and pepper.
  4. Layer half of the potato mixture in a baking dish, sprinkle half of the cheese on top, then add the remaining potato mixture and finish with the rest of the cheese.
  5. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for another 15-20 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly.
  6. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
