Chocolate Orange Reindeer Cake

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1 cup chocolate frosting
  • 1 cup orange frosting
  • chocolate candies for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add the buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract, and mix until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the hot water and orange zest, mixing until smooth.
  5. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Let the cakes cool completely before frosting.
  8. Frost the top of one cake with chocolate frosting, place the other one on top, and frost the entire cake with orange frosting.
  9. Decorate with chocolate candies to create a reindeer face.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, you can use dark chocolate cocoa powder.
  • This cake can be made a day ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator.
