- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 pound ground pork
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 12 lasagna noodles
- 2 cups ricotta cheese
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and pork over medium heat until browned.
- Add the onion and garlic, cooking until softened.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, basil, and oregano. Simmer for 30 minutes.
- Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
- In a bowl, mix the ricotta cheese, egg, and half of the Parmesan cheese.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Spread a layer of meat sauce in a baking dish, then a layer of noodles, followed by the ricotta mixture and mozzarella cheese. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used.
- Top with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan.
- Bake for 45 minutes until bubbly and golden.
Notes
- Allow lasagna to sit for 10-15 minutes before serving for easier slicing.
- Substitute ground turkey for a lighter version.
