A delicious and easy recipe for making crispy fish and chips at home.

  • 4 pieces cod fillets
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cold sparkling water
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 large potatoes
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Peel and cut the potatoes into thick fries, soak in water for 30 minutes, then pat dry.
  2. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot over medium heat.
  3. In a bowl, mix flour, paprika, salt, and pepper, then slowly whisk in sparkling water until smooth.
  4. Dip each cod fillet into the batter and carefully place in hot oil, frying until golden brown.
  5. Remove fish and drain on paper towels.
  6. Fry the prepped fries in the same oil until crispy and golden.
  7. Serve with the fish and enjoy!

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, double fry the potatoes.
  • Add malt vinegar or tartar sauce for serving.
