  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon green food coloring
  • 1/2 cup red sugar or sprinkles for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the egg, vanilla extract, almond extract, and green food coloring to the butter mixture and mix well.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
  6. Roll the dough into balls, then roll in red sugar or sprinkles.
  7. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and flatten slightly.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are lightly golden.
  9. Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

  • For extra decoration, you can use white icing to create Grinch faces.
  • These cookies can be made in advance and stored in an airtight container.
