  • 4 large egg whites
  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 3 cups confectioners’ sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 tablespoon sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, combine almond flour and powdered sugar, and whisk until well blended.
  3. Beat the egg whites and salt in a separate bowl until soft peaks form.
  4. Gradually add granulated sugar and continue beating until stiff peaks form.
  5. Fold the dry ingredients into the egg whites gently until fully incorporated.
  6. Pipe small circles onto the prepared baking sheet and let them sit for 30 minutes until they form a skin.
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes, then let cool completely.
  8. Meanwhile, prepare the filling by beating the butter, confectioners’ sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
  9. Spread a dollop of filling on the flat side of one macaron and sandwich with another.
  10. Decorate with sprinkles if desired.
