Moroccan Meatballs (Meatball Tagine)

Delicious Moroccan meatballs cooked in a rich and flavorful tagine sauce, perfect for a comforting meal.

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 2 teaspoons ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup raisins
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, cumin, coriander, cinnamon, salt, and pepper. Mix well and form into meatballs.
  2. Heat olive oil in a tagine or large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and garlic, sautéing until soft.
  3. Add diced tomatoes, chicken broth, raisins, and meatballs to the skillet. Bring to a simmer.
  4. Cover and cook for 25-30 minutes or until meatballs are cooked through.
  5. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
